Community Guidelines

RestartCrew is a supportive community for people affected by AI-driven job disruption. These guidelines help us keep it that way. We ask every member — whether anonymous or public — to treat this space with the care it deserves.

  1. No mocking job loss

Losing your livelihood is devastating. Dismissive comments, jokes about layoffs, or "just learn to code" rhetoric are not welcome here.

  2. No doxxing

Respect every member's choice of identity. Never reveal, speculate about, or attempt to uncover someone's real identity if they have chosen to be anonymous.

  3. No harassment

Personal attacks, bullying, threats, intimidation, and sustained negative targeting of any individual are strictly prohibited.

  4. No recruiting spam

This is a peer-support community, not a job board. Unsolicited recruitment pitches, MLM offers, and promotional content will be removed.

  5. No partisan flamebait

Political debates about AI policy are fine. Partisan attacks, culture-war provocations, and inflammatory takes designed to divide are not.

  6. No nihilism spam about human worth

We understand the fear and frustration. But persistent messaging that humans are worthless, that resistance is futile, or that there is no hope undermines the community's purpose.

  7. Critique systems, not people

You can criticize companies, policies, and technologies. Direct your frustration at structures and decisions, not at individual people or fellow community members.

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent banning depending on severity and pattern. Reports are reviewed carefully, case by case.

Reporting

If you see something that violates these guidelines, use the report button on any post or thread. All reports are reviewed and handled confidentially.

The Spirit of This Community

Above all: be the community member you needed when you first arrived here. Lead with empathy, share generously, and remember that everyone's journey is different.

How moderation works here

How do I report something that breaks the guidelines?
Use the report button on any post or thread. Reports are reviewed by a person, handled confidentially, and the person you reported is not told who reported them.
What happens when someone breaks a guideline?
Depending on severity and whether it is a pattern, the outcome ranges from removing the content to a temporary suspension or a permanent ban. Decisions are made by a person reviewing the report, not by an automated filter.
What protects members who post anonymously?
The no-doxxing guideline. Revealing, speculating about, or trying to uncover the identity of a member who has chosen to be anonymous is a violation in itself, and it is enforced whether or not the guess turns out to be right.
Are recruiters allowed to post?
No. RestartCrew is a peer-support community, not a job board. Unsolicited recruitment pitches, MLM offers and promotional content are removed. Members sharing an opening with people they have actually been talking to is a different thing, and that is fine.
